WRCR Station Manager Eric Hansen cues up a tape in the WRCR upper Burpee studios. Hansen was the Station Manager for the 1963-64 academic year and was one of the founders of WRCR.
Hansen said: I recall that the Maggie (Magnecorder) did come from a radio station, but I think it may have been from WFMT in Chicago. That was really a workhorse tape deck back then...very compact and easy to fit in a relay rack as we did. As you can see from the photo, the deck and electronics (amp, etc.) were separate units and very rugged. The other tape deck (above the Magnecorder) was a Viking unit, a fairly inexpensive "consumer" machine that I donated to the station.
